![]() ![]() She can’t help but feel like she’s basically got it all figured out, our annoying health nut. Oh and also? The annoying health nut listens to health podcasts in the plane. The annoying airport health nut still hasn’t figured out how not to drink bottled water at the airport, but she’s sure one day other annoying health nuts will find the answer. …One or two meals, depending on how long the flight is, plus snacks, plus tea bags, plus earplugs, plus cleansing wipes (OK, but actually I always forget the wipes). Oh yeah, in case you haven’t figured it out, the annoying health nut on the plane is me. She has to get pretty creative to end up with the full kit: cashmere pillow and matching sleeping mask (sleep is THE KEY to reducing stress!!!)… She arrives at the airport with some seriously inventive treasures in her carry-on. The annoying health nut sometimes forgets she is getting on everyone’s nerves. So that’s how, in one year’s time, I became what I call (for lack of a better term) an annoying health nut. Inflammation, anxiety, and general depression. And most of all, my very French, rebellious “I can eat whatever I want and drink whatever I want, no one can make me eat kale” side was probably responsible for some of the symptoms I was being prescribed millions of medications for. Doing things the way I’d been taught without ever giving it a second thought. I ended up realizing that despite everything I’d been telling myself, I was really disconnected from my body. Then I started seeing hypnotherapists, shamans, and healers because it made me feel better. Then I started meditating to try to avoid going crazy. So I decided to start getting acupuncture to try to get some semblance of balance back. Which is probably why I ended up feeling depressed, bloated, uncomfortable, unhappy. It started with me going to see millions of doctors about my fertility issues, and those million doctors had me gulping down millions of medications. I became an annoying health nut without even trying. It kind of caught me off guard, actually. I never would have thought I’d end up being one of the masses of women in yoga pants toting around their glass water bottles of filtered water on their way to kundalini yoga class (OK, I’m exaggerating a little – I haven’t gotten into kundalini quite yet). Well…the crazy person is me! That happened just this morning, in fact.īeing this annoying is kind of a new thing for me. As with any dark chocolate, to get the antioxidants and other health bennies, go for 70% or higher cacao content. ![]() My favorite brand of dark chocolate for baking and eating out of hand is Theo, which you can find at Whole Foods, Fairway, Publix etc. I just give them a quick whiz in my food processor to make oat flour.Īnd I suggest using organic raw cacao, which is simply raw unsweet cocoa powder. The oats are a great gluten-free substitute to use in baking, and most people have oats in their pantry. white flour, sugar and dairy), but are rich and chocolatey and you can enjoy them with impunity.įun fact: banana adds moisture and acts as a natural binder in place of eggs in baking.
